To confirm this put it in manual and make sure it is in water. There is a delay so wait a bit and if it pumps it is wired backwards. If it doesn't it could be a faulty switch. The ground is good or it wouldn't run at all.

Then run a new wire to a battery to the "float" wire of the bilge. I used a 6A inline fuse to the battery. Install took 10 minutes, splicing the wires took 10 minutes. Dealer will charge you $100.
WebMay 27, 2007 · Anyway, if I simulate water in the bilge by pouring a couple of buckets down the pump will kick on, eject all the water, but keep running even after the float falls. I have to pull the fuse to get it to stop. When I replace the fuse later, the pump sometimes stays off (until I test it again) or comes on immediately. It's a complete crap shoot.
