WebTighten it until it stops, then stop. It's just there to hold it down, so it doesn't need to be super tight. Just tighten it until you actually have to put some effort into doing so, then stop.No need to go ham on it. Basically tighten till' it's just secure. Turn until it stopped turning.

The 2010 MacBook Pros all have #00 Phillips screws in the bottom case, yes, they're in there tight. Cut the head off the screw altogether or drill it off. This will allow you to remove the bracket at least, but you will have to abandon the screw shank in place and move your bracket slightly if you need to re-install it.
