WebJan 18, 2024 · #1 Hello, I have a chimney breast on the ground floor of my home. The breast and stack has been removed from the first floor upwards so this is the only piece remaining. I want to angle grind a rectangle out of the breast at waist height and then put in a plywood box to create some sunken shelves. WebThe chimney breast is 79" wide and as you can see from the picture the ceilings are very high. Given the seating position of the sofa (approx 2.8m from sofa to front of chimney breast) the TV needs to be set at a sensible height to avoid a sub-optimal viewing angle. This leaves a large empty gap at the top of the wall.
