WebOct 14, 2005 · This would cause a problem with Half Life since Steam is needed to run the game. I would say they are very related. I would check to make sure you have the most recent version of both Half Life 2 and Steam. I usually turn off steam whenever I can, only because its a resource hound. Hope this helps. Guardian WebNov 20, 2008 · It's a known problem for the 64bit version. Same happened to me a few days ago when they brought the Left 4 Dead demo out. I've only noticed it on HL2 and Lost Coast, all the other episodes work fine. You can right click on half life 2/properties and type -32bit in the launch options but you might lose your saves :/ Hopefully they'll fix it soon.
